WINDOWGAZER : AN INTRODUCTION
The windowgazer is an entity who exists in a tall house, with just two high windows set up high in the structure. At times the effort to reach up and gaze out upon the world is beyond the strength of the essence that spends its time travelling through life, looking out occasionally, otherwise lurking in a dark place within the space that houses itself.
Windowgazer is a composite creature, human, filled with all the uncertainties, enthusiasms and bewilderment that goes towards forming the whole. Unable to make much sense on a continual basis, windowgazer attempts to gaze out through the windows, eyes firmly fixed on the activities of others, attempting to make sense of events playing out on the stage called life. Humanity is its real name and currently appears to be preoccupied with living a life outside its immediate grasp and presence.
Windowgazer has come to the conclusion that the balance of being at this level in time is in itself an impenetrable load to carry, impossible to grasp and the sheer effort of seeking for place, identity, meaning and understanding to wend its way to a comprehensive knowledge of existence that one sinks frequently to one’s haunches, finally coming to rest once again, form splayed out, feet before it and back straight up against the wall.
A bleak picture is emerging and it truly can be an extended bleakness which attacks and marks the major patterning or colours, dull and drab, lacking fullness of light and levity at this particular moment in time in illuminating the way ahead.
Once again, stretching upwards, fingers clasping onto the sills beneath one the windows, windowgazer attempts to make sense of the pot of misery that appears to form a thick, dark and dismal crust on the outside of the windows. One that surrounds and shadows man’s quest for light, hope, and growth. A lessening of warring and seeking desperately a glimpse of light flickering outside those windows, windowgazer moves silently from window to window around the rotunda.
People, politicians, corporations, office workers, shops assistants, hospital workers, government officials, school teachers, artists, musicians, country workers…an endless universal throng awakens. All seem caught up in a state of mayhem, whilst I continue to gaze from the window on life, attempt to understand…a cog within that wheel of life, I continually seek…to become, participate.
